Kaua’i Public Land Trust Hires First Executive Director to Grow Organization and Increase Efforts to Conserve Land.
Kilauea, HI – On November 15th the Kaua’i Public Land Trust’s (KPLT) new Executive Director began her first day on the job. Hiring an executive director was an essential step for the organization. KPLT hopes that with a full-time staff they will have the resources necessary to ensure that the scenic, recreational, ecological, agricultural, cultural and historic lands of Kaua’i will be preserved for generations to come.
The KPLT Board of Directors, led by Board President Dr. Gary Blaich, and including community leaders Walt Barnes, Bill Chase, Ed Punua, Barbara Robeson, JoAnn Yukimura and Diane Zachary felt that KPLT was ready to take the next step and hire full-time staff.
“It is our intent,” said Dr. Gary Blaich, “to build KPLT into a trusted, proactive and leading conservation organization. Hiring Jennifer Luck as our Executive Director will ensure that our organization has longevity and the tools necessary to become an advocate for the people of Kaua’i.”
Ms. Luck brings to KPLT ten years of non-profit management experience. She began her career with the California-based United Farm Workers Union and went on to work on a variety of State Assembly campaigns, as Associate Director of the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women and most recently the Executive Director of the Institute of Real Estate Management, Greater Los Angeles Chapter.
Ms. Luck has a proven track record of fundraising, grassroots organizing and leading successful public education campaigns. “It is a privilege to work with KPLT’s dynamic Board of Directors,” said Ms. Luck “and will be an honor to spend each day working with the community to preserve Kaua’i’s places of the heart”.
Kauai Public Land Trust is a local, independent, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the exceptional qualities of Kaua’i’s land for the public’s benefit. Through its ability to acquire and monitor Kaua’i’s resources in perpetuity, KPLT can assure today’s community that the beauty of Kaua’i will endure for generations.
