Help
with Insurance
Claims
For All Land Trusts Making
Insurance Claims
- Be sure to
protect your property by putting tarps on roofs, boarding up
broken windows and getting personal property (furniture, computers
etc.) to a safe place. The cost for this can be included
in your claim.
- Be cautious
when selecting a contractor since disasters can attract contractors
that more interested in making a quick buck than properly repairing
your building or home and helping you document the cost.
- Any structure
that water got into it should be dried and cleaned by a professional.
There are several national companies that specialize in drying
out structures. They are ServiceMaster, 800-937-3783,
Servpro, 800-737-8776, and Purofirst, 800-500-2399 and they
have pre-approved rates with the insurance companies.
- Document your
cost with receipts, estimates and invoices. If possible
include a summary of the cost in a Spreadsheet and be sure
to total the cost.
- A well documented
and organized claim will usually be paid faster, especially
in the event of a large scale disaster.
