Dear Friend,

On February 7th the Wall Street Journal ran a lead article about conservation easements and what the expanded tax incentive means for landowners. The Alliance worked hard to get this story covered in a highly respected national publication, and I encourage you to use reprints of it to promote the new incentive. Read the article. Please let us know if this type of national outreach is helping you at the local level (we love to hear your success stories!)

We are delighted that Senator Baucus and Senator Grassley have co-sponsored a bill to make the expanded tax incentive permanent, and President Bush endorsed it by including it in his budget. Learn more.

This bipartisan cooperation is a credit to you and the strong relationships you are building with your political leaders. We have a long journey ahead to pass this bill. Please contact your Senators and express support for S. 469, and, every time you close an easement this year, send the news to your representatives in Congress and urge them to make the incentive permanent!
